Broome Water Park

The expansion and reimagination of a regional themed destination waterpark.

The Broome Water Park depicts the local Kimberly marine environment, in particular the junction between the iron rich land, sandstone cliffs and turquoise ocean. Located at the newly upgraded Broome Town Beach it offers a bespoke water play experience for children of all ages and abilities.

JBA were the landscape architects and lead consultant delivering concept and detailed design, associated costing and specification documentation, construction tender evaluation support and construction advice.

Innovative design solutions gave new life to existing water play features, while ‘off the shelf’ items were modified and reinterpreted by artists with the local theme.

The upgraded precinct is now integrated via pathways and green links with the surrounding landscape and the adjacent award-winning Town Beach Foreshore.

The project team worked closely with the Department of Health to ensure the new and efficient sanitation, tanking and hydraulic systems were compliant with the 2020 Code of Practice and Guidelines for aquatic facilities, all the while working with the constraints of the site, the plant room and the available service infrastructure.

Extensive research was conducted into materials, suppliers and manufactures to ensure the design favoured the local economy while achieving best value for money. The builder and trade services were located in Broome and stone was sourced locally.
