The Yallingup Playspace has been given a ‘High Commendation’ at the 2014 Kidsafe National Playspace Design Awards.

The Josh Byrne & Associates (JBA) and City of Busselton project competed in the Public Playspaces Category A: Playspaces less than $500,000. The Judges comments were:

The beach theme showcases Yallingup’s regional character and natural environment. Very functional design and use of materials aimed at reducing carbon footprint.”

The 2014 Kidsafe National Playspace Design Awards recognises excellence and innovation in the provision of safe, creative playspaces across Australia. This year’s playspace entries were inspirational, encouraging healthy participation in recreational activities for all children. The judges were excited by the quality and diversity of all designs.

Designed by JBA and built by Earthcare Landscapes, the Yallingup Playspace is located on the foreshore of the iconic WA coastal town of Yallingup, overlooking the renowned ‘Yallingup Main Surf Break’. The coastal themed playspace complements its unique setting and encompasses a diverse array of bespoke playground equipment that caters for all ages.

JBA is currently working on a number of innovative playspace designs including the new multi-million dollar Calista Adventure Playground in collaboration with Victorian based Jeavons Landscape Architects . JBA is also a preferred supplier to the WA Local Government Association (WALGA) and the WA Government Department of Education for the design, and supply and install of playgrounds respectively.
