Josh Byrne & Associates (JBA) has recently been engaged by the Shire of Kellerberrin to undertake the design of a new playspace at Centenary Park in Kellerberrin, located 202 kilometres east of Perth in WA’s Wheatbelt region.
Josh Byrne and JBA Senior Landscape Architect Robyn Renton recently visited Kellerberrin and presented to the Shire Council and several community representatives the project’s opportunities and constraints. Josh also showcased JBA’s other great play spaces including our work in Yallingup, Bunbury and Kwinana.
The visit served as a great opportunity to gather information about the town and the site which is now being cleverly incorporated into the concept design. JBA is looking to weave a narrative within the playspace that depicts the local Kellerberrin lifestyle and includes themes associated with wheat farming, its rich historical homestead architecture and the attributes of the iconic wheat belt landscape.
JBA will be working with the skate park designers EnLocus to integrate the playspace with the adjoining new skate park. The designs are due for completion in the next few months, with construction due next year.
